Making a wooden boat can seem daunting. the process of wooden boat building has become much easier, however, due to a method called "stitch and glue." in this process, plywood pieces are stitched together with copper wire and the boat is firmly glued with a mixture of epoxy and sawdust. these boats are lighter and sturdier than fiberglass.. This is a technique used usually for smaller boats to be able to pull the hull form together without the need to build a frame or mold (which can take almost as long and as much wood as the boat itself). i built a gauge stick to make sure my holes were perfectly spaced at 4" at 1/2" in from the plywood edge.. The next day, after discovering that his precious scraps of holey wood had some play value, he returned with a couple of peg dolls and a plan – he was going to make a gift for faye. a toy boat with sailors! not a surprising choice, considering how fond he is of the toy boats we made for him (a balloon-powered boat and a paddle boat)..
